Licensing and Contracts

Check Point bases all of their licensing off of "software blades"

You can only change the license 5 times, after that you have to call Check Point.

Standard License Types

• Central License

  • This is attached to the SMS's public IP address rather than the Security Gateways IP address.

  • Only one IP address is needed for all licenses

• Local License

  • Used for standalone licenses that manage themselves

License Components

• Software blade

  • Security feature, set and model

• Software container

  • Enables the Software Blade functionality and defines the Blades purpose

Automatic licensing

If a SMS's license is about to expire, it will check with the Check Point cloud account for any available licenses and pull one if allowed to

Adding a license

• Manually

  • Copy and paste the contents of the file

• From File

  • Import the license file

• From User Center

  • Sign in and grab it from there
